Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 1985. This was followed by Post Graduate Programme in Structural Engineering in the year 2002 and Ph.D Programme in the year 2007. All the Programmes are approved by AICTE and the UG Programme is  accredited by UGC,  NBA and  NAAC.
Dr. I. Padmanaban, HOD with a strong team of faculty provide the right academic atmosphere for the students to get developed into complete Civil Engineers with aptitude for research. In the past Three decades, the department has seen lot of progress in academics, research and consultancy. In addition, the department is recognized as a research centre by Anna University Chennai. So far about 15 scholars have acquired Ph.D from our research centre and more than 30 are pursuing Ph.D. All this was achievable due to dedicated teaching and non-teaching faculty and the support from the generous management. We have 16 faculty members both from UG & PG, of which 5 have acquired highest qualification in the form of Ph.D. Our infrastructure has been state-of-the-art for which we thank the ever encouraging management. Quality of students and their achievements in curricular and co-curricular activities have branded our department as a leading centre of learning, not only in India but also abroad.

  Apply the concepts and solve problems in at least three sub divisions of Civil Engineering namely Structures, Environmental, Hydraulics, Construction Management and Geotechnical Engineering.
