The Department of Computer Science and Engineering with its modern curriculum and syllabus has excelled in offering quality education to Students. Dr.A.Balamurugan HOD, with his rich academic experience along with a band of highly qualified and dedicated professionals leads the department. The department with its well defined infrastructure and computing facilities is ardent on the all round development of the students . With the department faculty engaged in research and development , students are exposed to the modern trends in the field of computer science and expand their intellectual horizons.

The department of CSE fosters a conducive ambience to meet the global standards by equipping the students with modern techniques in the area of Computer Science and relevant research to address the societal needs.

OUR MISSION

To provide quality academic environment that would help the students to acquire knowledge in computer science concepts. To motivate faculty to disseminate knowledge to different levels. To produce competent graduates who can develop algorithms and systems to the target groups.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES


  1. Engineering knowledge:Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice
  7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  8. Ethics:Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

  1. PEO1. To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals required to solve computer science and engineering problems.
  2. PEO2. To provide the students scope to improve programming skills ,apply computing techniques to design and maintain hardware and software with social relevance.
  3. PEO3. To provide the students, the ability to adapt, contribute and innovate new technologies in the key domains of Computer Science and Engineering and to productively extend their interest by pursuing higher studies and research.

BEST PRACTICES


  1. The CSE department staffs are actively engaged in expanding the intellectual horizons of the students through distinguished-lecture series, interactive teaching methods, research activities and innovative projects.
  2. The staffs have consistently produced good results in the end semester exams. The slow learners are identified early in the semester and special coaching classes are conducted for them. The department has produced a considerable number of university ranks both in UG as well as PG Programmes.
  3. Students are closely monitored and guided by the Staffs during their project phase enabling them to publish their work in reputed journals.
  4. Tutors counsel their students periodically and update their parents regarding their attendance and internal test performance.
  5. Students with the help of faculty had sent project proposals to different agencies.
  6. By applying proposals to different funding agencies throughout the year, staffs had conducted funded workshops.
  7. Staffs help in student placements by mentoring the students as well as conducting training classes for them. Alumni are involved in conducting mock interviews and are frequently invited to guide the students in placements.
  8. Students are trained to do mini projects as a part of their practical classes. They had been successful in developing different software and had been instrumental in developing in house software tools for the internal use of the department.
  9. The Students had also proved their programming skills by securing top positions in different project contests conducted both at the regional as well as national level. They had submitted their projects to various project contests like IBM Project contest, TNSCST etc. Their projects have won prizes in IBM project contest and My idea contest.
  10. Staffs organize and coordinate various seminars, guest lectures and workshops for the benefit of the students. The students were also trained to be resource persons for the workshop conducted for the students of other departments.
  11. There is a good rapport between the staffs and students. This harmony has led to their joint effort in doing mini projects, internal projects in the department, publishing papers, sending project proposals and coordinating various other events in the department.
