The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), established in 2022 as part of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, is committed to educational and research excellence. The department aims to develop skilled professionals capable of building sustainable and intelligent solutions that integrate with natural intelligence. Emphasizing emerging technologies and digital empowerment, it prepares students for future challenges while promoting social values and ethics.
Dr. Naveenbalaji G., Professor and Head of the Department, is a distinguished academic and researcher. His extensive expertise reflects his dedication to advancing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Arasu Engineering College, Kumbakonam (2011), followed by a Master’s degree in VLSI Design from Madha Engineering College, Chennai (2013), ranking 17th at Anna University. He further holds an MBA in Information Systems (2017) and an MSc in Psychology (2019). Dr. Naveenbalaji G. earned his Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University in 2019 and completed a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship in Electronic Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, in 2024.
With over a decade of teaching and research experience, Dr. Naveenbalaji G. has contributed extensively to academia. His research includes 84 peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals such as IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, and MDPI, with 16 SCI-indexed papers having impact factors between 3.5 and 8.1. He has presented research at 35 international and 14 national conferences and contributed to 27 conferences as an organizer or committee member.
As a senior IEEE member and HKN Society inductee (2021), Dr. Naveenbalaji G. actively engages with professional bodies such as IEEE, ISTE, and IETE. He has delivered guest lectures at prestigious institutions and organized funded programs, including seminars, workshops, conferences, and Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), supported by agencies such as DRDO, MOES, and Anna University.
The Department of CSE(AI&ML) remains committed to producing graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding to excel in a technology-driven world. Through innovative teaching, impactful research, and industry collaboration, the department strives to become a leader in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning education.
