Infrastructure (Lab and Library Details)
The Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Laboratory exploits the brilliance and inspiration of students, blending them proportionately to bring out innovation and creativity.
The CAD/CAM Lab is aimed at giving exposure to and enhancing the knowledge and skills of engineers involved in the operation use of CAD. It gives exposure and on hand experience in the field of CAD/CAM. To fulfill the design & drawing requirements, the Centre has various CAD Tools like CREO & AutoCAD, Master-CAM, ANSYS, which suit industry grade as per the IS standards. This lab deals with drafting and designing purposes.
Metrology and Instrumentation Laboratory provides an environment for students to reinforce their understanding of the fundamental principles of measuring instruments and apply their knowledge through hands-on learning using measuring instruments. The laboratory is furnished with Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) that measures the geometry of physical objects by sensing discrete points on the surface of the object with a probe. It offers precise measurement of objects for design, assessment, testing profiles and reverse engineering. The laboratory is also furnished with the equipment covering the areas of linear & angular measurements, limits, fits and gauges, comparators, screw thread measurements, gear measurements, surface finish measurements.
Thermal Engineering Laboratory is well equipped with numerous equipment viz., Various set up of advanced research VCR engine, 4 stroke diesel engine, 4 stroke petrol engine, flash and fire point, viscometer, blower,
boiler, R & AC, heat exchanger, etc., The students gain the practical knowledge in the thermal field in industrial level by carrying out hands-on learning practice in the laboratory.
Dynamics Laboratory is a modern facility for performing a wide range of experiments in the area of Mechanics. The laboratory is concerned with providing theoretical knowledge, practical exposure to the students and methods capable of bringing solutions to practical problems in the industrial sphere. The Lab supports undergraduate courses, research scholars, student projects and advanced experimental research. This laboratory equips students with the current industry practice in structural dynamics and design of products.
The Manufacturing Laboratory serves as a foundational platform for imparting expertise in prevalent material removal processes employed in industrial settings for part manufacturing. This facility is designed to familiarize individuals with fundamental machining operations conducted on Lathe and specialized machines, emphasizing their practical applications in real-time component production within the industry. Equipped with machinery including center lathes, planers, shapers, milling machines, slotters, grinding machines, gear hobbing machines, and CNC units, the lab facilitates comprehensive exploration of machining techniques. Students engage in hands-on experiences, studying the intricacies of these processes to gain valuable insights into their utilization for precision manufacturing. The laboratory’s focus is to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical proficiency, aligning educational curricula with industry demands and providing a holistic understanding of manufacturing methodologies.
Digital manufacturing laboratory is equipped with (Makerbot) 3D printing machine, CNC turning, CNC milling machine and computers with latest configurations supported by software like Edgecam, Master Cam. Digital manufacturing laboratory has the tools to help students to mediate between digital and physical design. A multitude of hardware and software technologies are combined in the Digital manufacturing laboratory including 3D Printers and CNC machines.
Engineering practices laboratory houses Carpentry, Plumping, Sheet metal, Welding and moulding shops. The students are trained in performing all the fundamental operations in the above sections. The students are provided with hand tools and power tools to make simple models with wood and metal. The laboratory consists of woodworking lathe, fittings tools, furnace, moulding boxes, TIG & MIG welding, Drilling Machine
An automation laboratory is a specialized facility that focuses on developing and implementing automated systems and processes by integrating pneumatic and robotics-based automation. It serves as a hub for research, innovation, and experimentation in the automation field. This automation laboratory has state-of-the-art tools like sensor networks, control systems, equipment like PID controller stations, and simulation software to design, test, and optimize various automated systems and technologies. Also, it serves as a collaborative space where researchers, faculty members, students and industry professionals work together to develop their innovative products.
